Antonio Silva

Antonio Silva is a Senior Advisor at the Behavioural Insights Team (BIT). At BIT, he leads the work on social cohesion and integration, including projects on highlighting shared identities between existing and new citizens through enhanced citizenship ceremonies, and on using noncognitive skills to reduce prejudice and promote tolerance among young people in schools.

He completed an MSc and PhD in anthropology at University College London. His PhD focused on the interplay between conflict and cooperation using naturalistic measures and field experiments with the Catholic and Protestant communities in Northern Ireland.

Governments are increasingly drawing on research into human behavior when developing policies that aim to encourage people to make better decisions, be it accessing preventative health care or paying taxes. This report explores how a similar approach of "nudges" could be applied to immigrant integration policy to encourage social mixing, narrow socioeconomic gaps, and more.
