Julia Yanoff

Julia Yanoff was a Communications Officer at the Migration Policy Institute, where she was responsible for assisting with the implementation of MPI's communications strategy, disseminating research, coordinating public and media outreach, and engaging with target audiences.

Prior to joining MPI, Ms. Yanoff worked with the Lutheran Social Services of New York's Safe Haven Program as a Case Manager and Lead Case Manager overseeing family reunification procedures and providing comprehensive support to unaccompanied minors in state custody. Before working in migration services, Ms. Yanoff lived in Cochabamba, Bolivia, where she worked as a Program Assistant for the Andean Information Network, an NGO committed to providing timely analysis of social, political, and economic developments in the Andean region, particularly as they relate to drug policies. 

Ms. Yanoff holds a master’s degree in migration studies from the University of Oxford, where she graduated with distinction. Her dissertation, published as a working paper with the University of Oxford's Center on Migration, Policy, and Society, focuses on the development and framing of family detention and family separation policies in the United States. 

In 2016, Ms. Yanoff graduated from New York University (summa cum laude), having studied politics and Latin American studies.
