Terri E. Givens

Terri E. Givens is Professor of political science at McGill University, where she focuses on immigration politics, transnational race politics, antidiscrimination policy, and the radical right.

Dr. Givens began her career on the faculty at the University of Washington and has held leadership positions as Vice Provost at the University of Texas at Austin, where she led internationalization efforts in Mexico and Latin America, and as Provost of Menlo College. She was the Founding Director of the Center for European Studies at the University of Texas and led the faculty and staff at Menlo College in developing programs for first-generation students.

She is the author/editor of books and articles on immigration policy, European politics, and the politics of race. Her most recent book is The Roots of Racism: The Politics of White Supremacy in the US and Europe (Bristol University Press, 2021).

Dr. Givens received her master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles and her bachelor's degree from Stanford University.
